Glass is often found in infills for balcony balustrades in many developer and office projects, as well as hotel investments; it is fashionable both in external and in internal balustrades. It is also increasingly used in private homes in stair barriers.
In these projects, safety glass – tempered glass (ESG) and laminated glass (VSG) should be used. The most common configurations are: ESG VSG 44.2, 55.3, 66.4, 88.4 or 1010.4. And what do Polish regulations say? According to the Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure of April 12, 2002, as amended, on the technical conditions that should be met by buildings and their location”, the height and infill of the vertical surfaces of balustrades should offer effective protection against falling out, and “glass elements of balustrades should be made of glass with increased resistance to impact, shattering into small, blunt pieces” (article 298, paragraph 1); the conclusion is that glass should be tempered and additionally laminated.
Below are a few example photos of projects using Dubiel Vitrum’s glass.
